A rise in core body temperature will cause an increase in heart rate as well, similar to what is experienced during exercise. As your body works harder to maintain a steady temperature, your body will inevitably burn more calories. An article released by the Journal of the American Medical Association, called the Effect of Sweating, found that only 30 minutes of infrared sauna therapy can burn up to 600 calories.
Infrared sauna therapy promotes relaxation by helping to balance your body’s level of cortisol, your body’s primary stress hormone. The heat generated by the sauna will also help to relax muscles and relieve tension throughout the body, allowing you to relax and de-stress. Infrared sauna therapy purifies and reinvigorates the skin by eliminating toxins and increasing circulation. Just one session will result in noticeably clearer, softer, and healthier-looking skin.
Improved Immune System Function
The increase in core body temperature associated with infrared sauna therapy acts as a sort of "artificial fever," which naturally strengthens and accelerates the body's immune response. This improved immune system function, paired with the enhanced elimination of toxins, greatly increases your overall health and resistance to disease.

What is an Infrared Sauna Session and what are the Benefits? Infrared saunas are different to traditional steam saunas as the heat from an Infrared Sauna directs heat deep inside the body instead of the room. The direct heat penetrates the skin on a deeper level than traditional saunas and is great for flushing out the toxins that build up in your body. This can help you to burn between 400-600 calories in just one 30-min session. You will often see celebrities on social media raving about the benefits of infrared saunas ranging from muscle repair to weight loss to just a general sense of wellness (check out Lady Gaga’s latest Instagram post). In addition to giving your body a detoxifying workout, Infrared sauna sessions are great for purifying most skin types, leaving your skin with a healthy natural glow. With your session usually set at a temperature of between 110-150F, increased sweating occurs and results in a simple acceleration of one of the body's natural mechanism for ridding itself of impurities and unwanted virus intruders leaving you feeling amazing again. When you visit us for your session you will be able to use the saunas music feature and just pop in your iPod or an audio book. Or you can just sit back and relax...the choice is yours!
How to Prepare You may want to bring some loose clothing to change into after your sauna session. Although we do not have showers or lockers at our spa, your sauna is in a private room where you can change and store your belongings. Other than that, we provide you with everything you need to enjoy your infrared sauna session. The sauna itself will have two towels freshly placed before each session and we’ll be sure you have a full body towel. Again, since you are in a private room for your sauna session, you can choose to undress and just wear the towel in the sauna, wear a bathing suit, or wear workout type clothing. Most choose to just use the towel. We also provide plenty of water for you to drink to help top up your fluid levels and a little aromatherapy spray for you to use during or after your session to help keep you cool.
